Five short steps. Allow about an hour for the in‑car update once the download is on your USB.
Click the link below to download the Download Manager installer to your PC. Open the file and complete the standard Windows install.
Once installed, you will see a shortcut on your desktop called Download_Manager_COMAND_Hard-disc_navigation.
Tip: install on a PC with at least 60 GB of free space.
Double‑click the desktop shortcut to start the Download Manager. On first launch it may take a few seconds to load.
From here, just follow the on‑screen instructions — accept the prompts, agree to the terms, and let the app finish initialising before continuing.
At the top of the window, open the Market dropdown and pick the region you ordered:
Make sure you pick the exact region you purchased — using the wrong region will fail PIN validation in the car.
In the list, click the row that matches your NTG version (e.g. NTG4.5, NTG5*1, NTG5*2, Gen20x). The row will highlight in blue and the details panel below will fill in.
Plug in the required USB stick, then click Start update at the bottom. The app will handle everything — formatting, file system, and the full download. Just leave your PC on until it finishes.
Use a USB 2.0 drive — USB 3.0 sticks may not be recognised by the car. The drive must be empty and formatted correctly.
Once the download finishes, safely eject the USB and take it to your vehicle. Insert it into your car's USB port with the ignition on.
After a few seconds, the head unit will prompt you for the PIN code we sent you in the email with your order. Enter the PIN, confirm, and the update will start automatically.
It can take up to one hour — you can keep driving while it runs. When it finishes, restart the car and your new maps will be live.
Check the order confirmation email — the PIN is unique to your VIN and map region.
